Paranoia
Work/Vertical Series/Paranoia
The need to belong draws nine students into a social app offering underground party invitations for timed challenges. As the competition turns deadly, friendship becomes a test of loyalty under increasingly dangerous demands.
Behind the story
Why I made it
The desire to be noticed can coexist with a profound fear of being seen. At Instituto Alpes, I explore that contradiction through students who seek acceptance while concealing parts of their lives, bringing different family circumstances to the same social pressures. Their guilt and fear of exclusion give the suspense its emotional stakes: the cost of belonging is felt most sharply within the relationships they trust.
The world
Familiar places become unsettling when every encounter carries the possibility of judgement. I set this teenage suspense among the classrooms of the Alpes school, the homes of Villa Morales and clandestine parties, with phones and social standing shaping daily life. The pilot's 2020 setting holds a different fear for each student beneath the ordinary routines they share.
The characters
Every character enters the story with a life already underway, expressed in their identity and visual design.
